Mentorship programs are another cornerstone of SGI Alumni Connect, pairing seasoned professionals with recent graduates to guide them through their early career stages.

Sept 14 ~ Ms Likhitha Chowdari, Batch 2018-2022, PMO at HCL Tech

From study pointers, project works, and spontaneous adventures, around campus, to preparing for the placements, Alam Likhitha Chowdari regaled our students, with anecdotes, truly capturing the essence of college days.

Aug 23 ~ Ms Sai Geetha T, Batch 2019-2022, Developer, TCS

We had Ms Sai Geetha T, a Batch 2019-23 graduate and currently a Data Engineer at TCS, give a realistic view of what to expect in the corporate world.

She shared her experience she advised students to be curious to know things and be willing to learn new technologies, and not be limited to what the books teach. She patiently answered the questions and doubts that the present students put forth.

“Chase your passion, step out of your comfort zone , explore the unknown and always take up challenge even if you are uncertain about yourself. College is the best place to discover yourself before stepping into the professional world.”

Support is always there around you in the form of faculty, seniors, managers, friends and parents, but first, you are the best help to yourselves. Find your passion/area of interest. Try to build your portfolio from the Second year onwards. Be polite always and truthful.”

The first-year and second-year students of Engineering had an interesting day listening to Ms Aarthy Suresh, an alumna of SSE, Batch 2019-2023, share her best tips and advice on preparing for a job while at college. A student of CSE, she was one of the 39 students selected in CGI during the 2023 placements season. She stressed the importance of communication skills, projects and internships, certification, resume-building, LinkedIn profile etc.

The SGI Alumni Connect also facilitates mentorship programs, pairing experienced alumni with current students. This mentor-mentee relationship provides personalized guidance, helping students navigate academic and professional challenges more confidently and clearly.

In addition to professional development, the platform also emphasizes the importance of community and giving back. Alumni are encouraged to participate in volunteer opportunities and contribute to initiatives that support the institute’s growth and development. This spirit of collaboration and mutual support strengthens the bond between past and present members of the SGI community.
