September 16, Academia to Industry; Transitions and Challenges ~ Mantosh Kumar, Continental

Mantosh Kumar General Manager at the Technical Centre of India, Continental, Bengaluru and also a passionate advocate of bridging the gap between academia and industry, interacted with our BBA and third-year Engineering students during his visit to the campus.

As pointed out by him, one of the key challenges is the difference between the expectations of students/joiners and industry expectations. With shorter training durations, emphasis on skills set rather than marks, and cut-throat competition, the corporate world is no longer a soft cushion for your future. To stay relevant, one must keep learning and upskilling, take calculated risks and not fear failure. And yet, amidst this complex circle of learning, learn to keep balance. When you love your work, work is passion: when you work to earn, it stays a profession.

Mr Kumar’s visit also highlighted the value of industry-academia collaborations. By fostering these connections, educational institutions can better prepare their students for the realities of the workplace, while companies benefit from fresh perspectives and innovative ideas brought by young graduates.

In conclusion, the session by Mr. Mantosh Kumar was not just an interaction but a wisdom-laden experience.
